A significant number of high school students from fringe areas participated in the fifth annual Orang Nature Camp, held from January 30 to February 2, 2026, at the Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve (ONP&TR). This event, organized by Aaranyak and the Orang Tiger Reserve Authority with collaboration from Wild Wings and support from the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF), aimed to enhance awareness of nature conservation among youth. The four-day residential program allowed students to engage with conservation experts through presentations and discussions, emphasizing the need for future generations to become involved in wildlife preservation.
The camp was inaugurated by Pradipta Baruah, Director of the Orang Tiger Reserve, alongside notable figures such as Dr. Debo Kumar Dutta of Aaranyak and Bijay Sankar Bora from Aaranyak. They highlighted the rich biodiversity of Orang and urged students to contribute to conservation efforts. A total of 33 students and 3 teachers from seven different schools, including Sialmari High School and Royal Brilliant Academy, attended the program.
Resource persons included senior scientists from Aaranyak and other conservationists, who conducted lectures on various conservation topics. The camp featured engaging activities such as presentations, environmental games, group discussions, nature trails, and a parks safari. Participants received educational materials, kits, and certificates at the program’s conclusion. The event saw support from local conservationists and teachers, ensuring its success and fostering the spirit of conservation among the youth.
