The Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI) is set to host the first Indo-French Investment Conference in North-East India, with a special focus on Assam, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and expand trade and investment opportunities in the region. Organised in partnership with the Embassy of France in India and the Assam Government, the conference will witness participation from key policymakers, diplomats, business leaders and senior bureaucrats.
Union Minister for Communications and DoNER Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and French Ambassador Thierry Mathou will attend the event. More than 20 French CEOs will take part in a high-level Business-to-Government (B2G) session, exploring opportunities in energy, infrastructure, defence, communications, ITeS, agriculture, food processing, and higher education.
Two panel discussions titled “Assam at the Crossroads of Trade & Innovation” and “The Next Frontier: Unlocking Investment Potential Across Sectors” will also be held.
In Guwahati, the conference could significantly boost investor confidence in Assam, especially in emerging sectors like IT-enabled services and food processing. Local business leaders believe French involvement will support infrastructure expansion and open global market access opportunities for regional industries.
IFCCI Director General Payal S. Kanwar said the North-East holds “tremendous potential for Indo-French collaboration,” adding that the initiative aims to attract sustainable investments and spur inclusive development in the region.
