Dr. Bhaba Das Foundation of Guwahati has launched a free heart surgery scheme for the children below 14 years of age below poverty line families in a press meet on 10 March in Guwahati. Medical Director Dr. B.P. Chakrabarty, Dr. Atanu Barthakur, Dr. Hemjit Talukdar, Dr. Biju Choudhury, Dr. Supriya Choudhury and Dr. Yasin Ali attended the press meet. Besides the free heart surgeries the foundation also gives importance for cancer treatments, medical education, nursing education and scientific research etc. The foundation also provides financial help to orphans, infrastructure improvement in differences medical organization.
Dr. Bhaba Das Foundation was started in 2017 for different health related programme and orientation programme for common people of North-East India, and also distribution of different foods, medicines and cloth for the flood affected area, Sanitizers, masks etc. And free Covid vaccines in association with Govt. of Assam. The foundation has already given financial assistance for free heart surgery of the children of the family of below poverty line Dr. J.P. Kalita, Cardiac Surgeon added that every year these are 2 lakh children suffered from congenital heart disease in India. After surgery recovery rate is 90%.
