A NIT student of Silchar, committed suicide few days ago, he was a third year electrical engineering student named Koj Buker.
According to the sources, the students from the institute accused the Dean, Academics B.K. Roy in connection with the suicidal case. The students their demanded removal of Roy from the post, around 2000 students has called for five days hunger strike for justice of their beloved friend.
On Saturday, the authority of the institute has assured to fulfill their demand of removal and the students has decided to call off the hunger strike.
Protesting students said, “The authorities promised to fulfill our two primary demands—Professor Roy will be removed from his position within the next couple of days and there will be no action against the students who launched a protest following Buker’s death.”
