First-Ever Burtuk Half Marathon to Be Held on Valentine’s Day 2026 with ‘Run for Love & Life’ Theme

The first edition of the Burtuk Half Marathon has been announced, and it will be held on 14 February 2026. The event is being organised by Ranka Sporting Club, and it will take place under the theme “Run for Love & Life.” The organisers say the marathon aims to bring the community together and encourage people to take up a simple, healthy way of living through running.

This marathon has come up with strong support and guidance from the Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang, and the Honourable Area MLA, Madam Kala Rai. Both leaders have been encouraging youth and local residents to stay active, look after their health, and work together for a peaceful and friendly society. According to the organisers, their guidance has helped shape the event into a meaningful social activity rather than just a sports competition.

The marathon will have three race categories so that people of different age groups and fitness levels can take part. These include a 21 km half marathon, a 10 km run, and a 5 km fun run. The organisers want school students, youth, working people, elderly residents, fitness lovers, and even first-time runners to join the event. The idea is to make it open, welcoming, and friendly for everyone.

The theme “Run for Love & Life” has also been chosen with a simple and positive message. The event is being held on Valentine’s Day, which already carries the idea of love and togetherness. The organisers want to extend this feeling beyond couples and relationships. They want it to stand for love for health, love for nature, love for family, and love for community life. The message is that when people run together, they share energy, happiness, and motivation.

At the same time, the marathon highlights the importance of life and healthy living. Today many people, especially young people, spend long hours with gadgets, social media, and indoor activities. The organisers believe that events like this can encourage the youth to go outdoors, interact with people, and adopt habits such as daily exercise, discipline, and a balanced lifestyle. The organisers say the marathon is not only about winning medals but also about building confidence, teamwork, and positive thinking.
