Fino Payments Bank has strengthened its presence in West Bengal with the inauguration of its first branch in the state. The new branch, located near Berhampur Court Railway Station in Murshidabad district, was inaugurated by Atul Trivedi, Senior Divisional Head, in the presence of Zonal Head Sachin Joglekar, Regional Head Soumen Kanrar, and other bank officials. Fino Payments Bank primarily serves unbanked and underbanked communities through a vast network of neighborhood merchant points, including kirana stores, mobile shops, and Bharat Petroleum outlets. In West Bengal, the bank already operates over 40,000 merchant points across all 23 districts, catering to more than one lakh customers.
Highlighting the significance of the new branch, Atul Trivedi said, “Murshidabad is a hub for agriculture, handicrafts, and small-scale industries. Berhampur, one of the district’s largest towns, is a strategic location to enhance Fino’s brand visibility and offer seamless banking services to the people. This branch will complement our existing network of 4,000 merchant points in the district and contribute to regional economic growth.”
Sachin Joglekar emphasized Fino’s commitment to financial inclusion, stating, “We aim to provide easy and accessible banking to the masses. The farming, handloom, and handicraft sectors in Murshidabad employ a large workforce that requires a hassle-free, paperless banking experience. Our services, including instant Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts and direct benefit transfers (DBT) for schemes like MNREGA and Kisan Samman Nidhi, will greatly benefit the local population.”
In Murshidabad, the new branch is expected to boost financial accessibility for traders, artisans, and small-scale businesses that drive the district’s economy. With a significant number of local merchants and self-employed individuals relying on cash-based transactions, Fino’s services, including cash deposits, withdrawals, and money transfers, will offer much-needed convenience and security.
