A film activist from Manipur has been worthy with the “Champion of Film Heritage Award,” at the continued Film Preservation and Restoration workshop in Bombay. The film collector from Manipur Johnson Rajkumar was worthy for his contributions to the sector of Manipuri film archiving.
The professionally trained film collector, Johnson received the award from David Walsh, organiser of International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) Bollywood actor Boman Iranian. Johnson United Nations agency is presently collaborating within the current Film Preservation and Restoration workshop as a Tata Trusts Scholar, was awarded ‘The Champions of Film Heritage Award’ by the Film Heritage Foundation with a citation.
The citation reads, “For his unselfish commitment and spirit in taking the road less traveled with restricted support and resources and taking over the challenge of sparking a movement for film preservation and birthing the inspiration for building a movie archive and coaching archivists in his home state of Manipur.”
