The Special Revision of electoral rolls in Assam has entered its final phase, with just a few days left for voters to submit claims, objections, or corrections. The Assam Chief Electoral Officer has reminded citizens that January 22, 2026, is the last date for completing all related formalities. An official notification issued on Sunday, January 18, stated that eligible voters who have not yet checked their details or submitted applications should do so without delay. The Special Revision is being carried out as per instructions issued by the Election Commission of India through a notification dated November 17, 2025. According to officials, the revision process allows citizens to apply for inclusion of new names, deletion of incorrect or duplicate entries, correction of personal details, and change of residence within the same constituency. These steps are meant to ensure that the electoral rolls are accurate and up to date before future elections.
For new voter registration, eligible citizens must submit Form 6. Those who wish to raise objections or seek deletion of names from the roll can do so using Form 7. Corrections related to name, age, address, or shifting residence within the constituency can be made through Form 8. All forms must be submitted on or before January 22, 2026.The Assam Chief Electoral Officer has informed that applications can be submitted through both offline and online modes. Offline submissions can be made by contacting the concerned Booth Level Officer at the polling station or by approaching the Electoral Registration Officer or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer. For those preferring digital options, applications can be submitted through the ECINET mobile application or the official voter portal at voters.eci.gov.in. The notification also clarified that there is no legal limit on the number of Form 7 applications an elector may submit within a constituency, as long as the objections are valid and follow legal provisions.
Officials have urged voters to carefully verify their names and details in the draft electoral rolls. Any error, if left uncorrected, may lead to difficulties during elections. The office stressed the importance of ensuring that every eligible voter is correctly enrolled in the electoral roll of their respective constituency within the stipulated deadline.“All citizens are requested to check their details and take necessary steps so that no eligible voter is left out,” the release stated. The administration has also appealed to first-time voters and those who have recently shifted residence to complete the process at the earliest. For further help or clarification, voters can contact their nearest Booth Level Officer or call the toll-free helpline number 1950. With the deadline fast approaching, election officials have once again advised citizens not to wait until the last moment.
