Minister Ranoj Pegu said many government schools have uploaded inflated enrollment figures on the Unified District Information System for Education portal.
Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said, “Many schools have uploaded inflated lists on the UDISE portal to avoid mergers or closures due to low enrolment. But with data sanitization, we hope the situation will stabilize soon.”
Ranoj Pegu also said that fake students were also shown in school enrollment registers to get benefits like inflated mid-day meal allocation and more money for free school uniforms and textbooks.
On the other hand, secondary school dropout rate in Assam has come down from 31% in 2020-21 to 20.3% in 2021-22.
