Assam’s Dibrugarh district has experienced cold temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius for the past few months. Three children died in the district due to extreme cold. Another child death is still not under control.
According to sources, a three-month-old baby died on January 11 when the mother of the tea estate went to collect the salary from the manager. The natives said it was a winter’s night; The mother took her child to collect the bonus payment.
Soon after that the baby’s health deteriorated and was admitted to a government hospital. Officers said the cause of the death can be ascertained only after post mortem report.
A government medical officer pointed out that the cause of the deaths can be due to severe cold in the district areas.
The death of infants took place at the village Moran, Dibrugarh district.
