The first randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the upcoming General Election to the Assam Legislative Assembly in 2026 was successfully conducted across all 35 districts, covering 126 Assembly constituencies. This event took place at the offices of the District Election Officers (DEOs) and included representatives from recognized national and state political parties, ensuring transparency and compliance with the Election Commission’s guidelines. The randomization of EVMs and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) is a vital and mandatory phase in the electoral process, utilizing the EVM Management System (EMS) for random allocation to different constituencies. This method guarantees fairness, mitigates biases or tampering, and enhances the integrity of the electoral system. The involvement of political party representatives during this process is intended to bolster public confidence in the election machinery’s transparency and reliability.
