The commissioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) with Candidate Set for the General Election to the Assam Legislative Assembly in 2026 has been successfully completed in all 126 Assembly Constituencies across the state. This crucial exercise took place between March 31 and April 4, 2026, at locations designated by the District Election Officers. To ensure complete transparency, the process involved the presence of contesting candidates or their authorized representatives. The commissioning was supported by authorized engineers and technical personnel from Electronics Corporation of India Ltd (ECIL), who played a vital role in guaranteeing the accuracy, reliability, and proper configuration of the machines. In total, 41,320 Ballot Units (BU), 43,975 Control Units (CU), and 43,997 Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines have been prepared for the upcoming elections, including reserve machines intended for potential use across 31,490 polling stations. An official statement highlighted that the successful completion of this commissioning process is a significant milestone in election preparedness, reaffirming the Election Commission’s dedication to conducting free, fair, and transparent elections.
