Eviction drive to continue in Assam

On Thursday, Assam Chief Minister responded to a complaint that was filed against him regarding the eviction drive in Assam.

Since December there has been a large scale of eviction drive in Nagaon district in four villages to clear the plots of government, earlier villagers were also asked to move from the plot.

Few politicians appealed the government to stop the eviction drive since its winter and people have nowhere to go. Replying to it, Chief Minister said the eviction drive in Nagaon will continue.

The chief minister said the government would not stop the eviction exercise due to the faulty action of some officials. Wherever any illegal encroachment is found, we will evict. This government is not here to sit. 365 days up to five years, we will continue our work.

This was announced in Gauhati High Court.
