In recent times, the release of one successful Assamese film after another, alongside new innovations in the Assamese film industry, has undoubtedly brought a ray of new hope and that is a positive sign.
The fact that audiences embrace good films has been proven once again with _”Koka Deuta Nati Aru Hati 2 produced by Pride East Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and directed by Bishwajit Bora. Especially since its release day in Assam, the film has been running ‘houseful’ in many theatres across the state.
Meanwhile, at “RR Cinemas” in Azara VIP, an ultra-modern multiplex located near the popular Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport at Borjhar in Jalukbari constituency on the western edge of Guwahati, “Koka Deuta Nati Aru Hati 2” continues to run even after two weeks.
According to Rajeev Kumar Dutta, owner of the theatre, the film was released at their RR Cinemas on 3rd July, just like in many other theatres across the state. Even after two weeks, the film is still running in 3 shows daily due to overwhelming audience response.
In the first week, the film ran in 4 shows 11:30 AM, 2:00 PM, 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM and all were houseful. Even after two consecutive weeks, it is now running in 3 shows — 11:30 AM, 2:00 PM and 5:30 PM.
Not just Assamese viewers, even non-Assamese audiences, including officials and employees of various national-level institutions in the area, such as the Airports Authority of India at Borjhar, along with their families, have also enjoyed the film. The movie has become popular across every generation. This is certainly good news for Assamese cinema.
Further, as informed by Rajeev Kumar Dutta, the theatre was inaugurated on 18th March 2022 by popular actress Aimee Baruah. On that very day, “The Kashmir Files” which created a nationwide stir, was also released. After that, several Assamese films including Shreeragupati Bidur Bhai Roi Roi Binale the last film of beloved artist Zubeen Garg and recently Chupaa Chupi have broken records. This is a very good sign for Assamese cinema, said Rajeev Kumar Dutta.
It may be mentioned that the 43-year-old film “Koka Deuta Nati Aru Hati” in which Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma acted as a child, has made a nostalgic comeback as Koka Deuta Nati Aru Hati – 2″ in Assam theatres. The beloved elephant ‘Brikodar’ from the 1980s film has also returned with a lively presence.
A complete family entertainer filled with laughter, tears, suspense, romance and conflict, “Koka Deuta Nati Aru Hati – 2” had its grand release on 3rd July in more than 75 theatres across the state, resonating with thousands of viewers.
Produced by Pride East Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., this sequel to the 43-year-old classic has made audiences in every theatre emotional and nostalgic. Viewers have praised Pride East Entertainment’s effort to revive the 1980s film with a fresh touch. Audiences have said the film is good and that it has lived up to their expectations.
With the foundation of the old story, a touch of newness, evergreen songs and deep emotions, this new film has arrived. The memory of ‘Brikodar’ the elephant from the 80s film has been brought back in a new form in this sequel.
In the song Ek Dui Tini Sari’ featured in the film, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, now the Chief Minister of Assam, played the child artist role in the 1980s. After a long gap of 43 years, that same child character has been recreated in the new film using modern technology.
According to Arvind Kalita, manager of the theatre, audience enthusiasm has also increased because the cinema hall falls under Jalukbari constituency, which is represented by the Chief Minister.
