For the replacement of recent pipelines, Oil India restricted (OIL) is currently reportedly fitting pipelines within the “eco-sensitive zone” of Dehing Patkai park that is currently being protested by numerous environmental teams involved over the difficulty. In 1954, the pipelines were already been originated within the Digboi-Duliajan road and to exchange the recent pipelines such a project was taken.
On the opposite hand, environmental teams and Student organisations raised their voice against the activity. The teams alleged that mass destruction of the forest has been occurring at the higher Dehing west block, wherever Oil has been fitting Oil pipelines. the complete space comes below the Digboi forest division.
Dehing-Patkai has been upgraded as a park however still, destruction of the forest has been occurring intense, they alleged. several valuable trees are shredded off for fitting of Oil pipelines. The contractors who were assigned the work for fitting the gas pipelines from Balijan to Kathalguri, Tinsukia had already slashed several trees within the eco-sensitive space of Dehing-Patkai park.
