The EMBED (Elimination of Mosquito-Borne Endemic Diseases) program, a flagship public-private partnership supported by Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL), has marked ten years of transformative impact, significantly reducing malaria and dengue across Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Launched in 2015 in Madhya Pradesh, EMBED has reduced malaria cases by 97%, reaching over 11 million people and transforming thousands of villages and slums into malaria-free zones. The program’s success has expanded to Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, covering more than 3 million households and benefiting nearly 28 million people.
The decade-long initiative leverages digital platforms, including the Community Health Volunteer App and Supply Chain App, enhancing real-time monitoring, inventory management, and preventive measures. Thousands of ASHA workers, NGOs, and volunteers have actively conducted surveys, community awareness drives, and health education campaigns to strengthen local health systems.
In Guwahati, EMBED’s interventions have inspired local businesses and retailers, particularly pharmacies and Kirana stores, to stock mosquito repellents and preventive products, enhancing community accessibility while supporting the public health mission. Sudhir Sitapati, MD & CEO, GCPL, emphasized, “Our CSR efforts through EMBED have brought visible change, with strong partnerships driving India’s mission toward a malaria-free nation by 2030.” The program continues to serve as a replicable model for malaria elimination nationwide.
