ECI Delegation Led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar Arrives in Guwahati Ahead of Assam Assembly Elections

A delegation of the Election Commission of India, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, arrived in Guwahati on Monday for a three-day visit in connection with the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly elections. The team was received at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport by Assam Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Goel.

The delegation includes Election Commissioners S S Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, Senior Deputy Election Commissioners Manish Garg and Pawan Kumar Sharma, Director General Ashish Goel, Adviser N N Butolia and Director Vidyarani Kanthoujam, among others.

During the visit, the high-level team will participate in a series of meetings and programmes related to the Assam Legislative Assembly General Election 2026. On February 17, the Commission will hold discussions with representatives of recognised national and state political parties at Radisson Blu Hotel Guwahati.

The delegation will also review poll preparedness in a meeting with the state Director General of Police, range Deputy Inspectors General, District Election Officers, District Magistrates and Senior Superintendents of Police.

On February 18, the Commission members will meet the state Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, nodal and chief officers of enforcement agencies, Chief Executive Officers, State Police Nodal Officer, CAPF Nodal Officer and other senior officials at the same venue. Later in the day, the delegation will address a press conference and interact with booth-level officers.
