In a landmark move towards enhancing India’s renewable energy capacity, Dynamic Services & Security Limited (DSSL) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sungevity Enterprises Private Limited. Announced on July 29, 2024, the MOU marks the beginning of a 100 megawatt (MW) solar power project in Manipur. The venture, to be executed through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), is set to address the country’s escalating power demand, projected to increase by 80 gigawatts (GW) by 2027.
Jugal Kishore Bhagat, Managing Director of DSSL, emphasized the importance of this initiative: “Partnering with Sungevity Enterprises to develop this solar power plant underscores our commitment to sustainable development and our proactive response to India’s growing renewable energy needs.” The 100 MW project will elevate DSSL’s total solar capacity to 250 MW within 18 to 24 months, complementing their ongoing 150 MW project in Maharashtra.
The Kolkata market, a pivotal hub for renewable energy developments, stands to benefit significantly from this project. As solar technology advances and costs decrease, Kolkata’s energy landscape is expected to see increased investment and innovation in green technologies, fostering economic growth and sustainability in the region.
