Drukair, Royal Bhutan Airlines, has announced that starting April 2026, it will reintroduce twice-weekly flights from Paro to Bangkok via Guwahati and will also commence a third weekly frequency on its Singapore route via Guwahati. The reinstated Bangkok flights aim to restore a significant regional link that enhances tourism, medical travel, education, and business exchanges between Bhutan, Northeast India, and Thailand. Bangkok’s status as a major regional gateway is expected to boost tourism in the region and facilitate outbound travel for Bhutanese passengers.
The new and expanded flight services will operate between Paro-Guwahati-Singapore and Paro-Guwahati-Bangkok, providing better air connectivity for South and Southeast Asia. The additional services to Singapore are introduced due to sustained passenger demand and reflect Drukair’s strategy to enhance access to major international hubs, which are critical for connectivity to Asia-Pacific, Europe, Australia, and North America. Increased flight frequency will offer passengers improved schedule flexibility and efficient connections.
Drukair’s CEO, Tandi Wangchuk, indicated that the expansion aligns with the Indian Government’s ‘Act East Policy’ and supports travel needs related to Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC). He emphasized that these services meet growing market requirements, strengthen Bhutan’s engagement with international hubs, and bolster economic growth through improved access and tourism development. Additionally, by utilizing Guwahati as a transit point, Drukair is committed to enhancing regional integration and operational efficiency while maintaining high standards of safety and service excellence.
