With the aim to increase awareness on the observance of World Diabetes Day on 14th November, leading physician Dr Manash P. Baruah, HOD & Consultant Endocrinologist, Excelcare Hospital, Guwahati emphasizes on better diabetes management and safe insulin injection practices among people living with diabetes in the country.
India continues to witness a rise in its diabetic population and is deemed as the ‘Diabetes capital of the world’. If not well managed and controlled timely, diabetes can lead to frequent hospital admissions, complications, deterioration of health and in many instances also be a cause of premature death.
Raising concerns on the increasing incidence of diabetes in the country Dr Manash P. Baruah says, “Patients who are seeking diabetes treatment must be watchful of the medication, dosage and insulin injection technique in case they require insulin shots to control their blood sugar. Many a times, patients do not follow safe and hygienic insulin injection practices which leads to complications and ineffective dosage administration.”
