DoNER Ministry Pumps ₹9,195.65 Cr into Development Works Across NE

The Ministry of Development of Northeast Region (DoNER) reported an expenditure of Rs 9195.65 crore across various schemes aimed at developing the Northeastern Region (NER). Minister of State Dr. Sukanta Majumdar highlighted that under the strategy “Act East, Act Fast, Act First,” the Ministry is actively working to position the NER as a growth engine for India. He noted that, following the 10% Gross Budgetary Support requirement, all non-exempt Ministries/Departments must allocate at least 10% of their budgets to the NER. Over the past four financial years, the total expenditure reached Rs 3.46 lakh crore, exceeding the cumulative budget allocation of Rs 3.20 lakh crore for the region’s various development sectors.
