DoNER Minister Scindia Visits Temi Tea Garden in Sikkim, Joins Workers in Tea Plucking

Minister for Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, on the second day of his Sikkim tour, visited the famed Temi Tea Garden in Namchi district.
The DoNER Minister was seen spending time interacting with tea garden workers in the state’s only tea estate.
A heartening moment was observed as the Minister engaged with the tea pluckers and workers, appreciating their immense contribution towards preserving Sikkim’s globally admired tea legacy.
Scindia also donned the traditional bamboo basket and joined the workers in plucking tea leaves himself.
The Minister also marvelled at the remarkable speed, precision and skill with which the tea pluckers carried out the delicate process, acknowledging the years of dedication and discipline behind their craft.
Adding a deeply personal touch to the interaction, Scindia conversed fluently in Nepalese with the workers, drawing smiles and warmth across the plantations and creating moments of genuine connection with the local community.
Scindia, who is on a three-day official visit to Sikkim, had arrived at Temi Bungalow in Namchi district on Thursday.
Upon his arrival, the Union Minister was warmly received by District Collector, Namchi, Anupa Tamling, and Superintendent of Police Namchi, Sonam Doma Bhutia.
Also present on the occasion were Chief Engineer Pratap Gautam, officials from the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited.
