Doctors across the country observing ‘Black Day’ on 1st June

Doctors across the country are observing a “Black Day” today in protest against the remarks made by yoga guru Baba Ramdev. The Federation of resident doctors’ association (FORDA) issued a release in which it said that June 1 will be observed as ‘Black Day’ and the The association also urged the authorities to book Ramdev under the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 for trying to create public unrest against the vaccination drive and harassing healthcare services personnel.

Amidst the second wave of COVID-19, fraternity of doctors, the Corona Warriors has been striving hard to save dearest motherland against the deadly pandemic but Yoga guru Ramdev’s alleged remarks on allopathy make an insult to them. The India Medical Association (IMA) strongly objected to Ramdev’s statement, and demanded action against him. 

The war has been started after Baba Ramdev had called allopathy a “stupid science” in an interview, Ramdev further claimed that the fatalities caused by the pandemic showed that allopathy was not 100 percent effective. Ramdev said, “For decades, I have been practising yoga and Ayurveda, so I didn’t feel the need to get vaccinated. Over 100 crore people of India as well as in foreign countries have access to these ancient therapies. In the times to come, Ayurveda will be globally accepted.”

FORDA President Dr Manish says the protest is not against Ayurveda but Ramdev. “We don’t want any kind of debate with Ramdev. Who is he? He is a layman. Ramdev has only made his business in this pandemic,” he also added “Doctors have worked through the pandemic day and night. They have lost lives. We are expecting more than 10,000 doctors to participate. We will go to any extent, we can go to court also”.
