Disney Cruise Line unveils ‘Disney Adventure’ in Singapore with grand star-studded christening

Disney Cruise Line officially christened its newest and largest ship, Disney Adventure, in a dazzling celebration in Singapore, marking the company’s first vessel to homeport in Southeast Asia and signalling a major step in its global expansion strategy. The spectacular ceremony, held at the Walt Disney Theatre onboard the ship, blended music, storytelling and technology to showcase the magic of Disney, Pixar and Marvel. Guests witnessed a star-studded performance featuring a 23-piece orchestra, Hollywood Performing Arts Hall of Fame inductee Jed Madela and international recording artist Dami Im. The event also featured special appearances by Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse, alongside immersive visual effects that transformed the theatre into a vibrant celebration of Disney storytelling.

Chairman of Disney Experiences and incoming Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, Josh D’Amaro, and President of Disney Signature Experiences, Joe Schott, joined performers on stage to mark the occasion. “The Walt Disney Company has always been built on storytelling and innovation. Disney Adventure represents a new chapter for Disney Cruise Line as we introduce our magic to new audiences across Asia,” said D’Amaro.

Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr., the ship’s official godparent, delivered the ceremonial blessing, declaring: “I christen thee, Disney Adventure, may God bless this ship and all who sail upon her.” The ship features seven immersive themed zones, including San Fransokyo Street from Disney’s Big Hero 6, a Broadway-style musical titled Remember, signature fireworks at sea, kids’ clubs, adult lounges and the cruise line’s first roller coaster at sea, Ironcycle Test Run. The launch could boost interest in premium cruise tourism across Asia, including India. In Kolkata, travel agencies and luxury tour operators expect growing demand for Southeast Asia cruise itineraries as Indian travellers increasingly seek experiential holidays and themed family entertainment.
