Dima Hasao Tops, Cachar Lowest as Assam HSLC 2026 Results Announced

Assam State School Education Board on Friday announced the results of the HSLC Examination 2026, bringing relief and excitement to lakhs of students across the state. The overall pass percentage this year stands at 65.62 per cent. Out of a total of 4,29,249 candidates who appeared for the examination, 2,81,701 students successfully passed.

The examinations were held between February 10 and February 27, while the results were declared on April 10. A total of 4,38,564 students had registered for the exam. Of them, 9,315 candidates were absent, and 135 were expelled during the examination process. The results of five candidates have been withheld.

Among the candidates who appeared, 1,86,468 were boys and 2,42,781 were girls. Boys performed slightly better, recording a pass percentage of 67.78 per cent, while girls secured 63.96 per cent.

In terms of divisions, 85,189 students secured first division. This includes 3,983 students who achieved distinction and 13,681 who obtained star marks. A total of 1,50,167 candidates passed in second division, while 46,345 students were placed in third division. Additionally, 99,062 students secured letter marks in different subjects.

District-wise performance shows that Dima Hasao emerged as the top-performing district with a pass percentage of 88.23 per cent. It was followed by Sivasagar at 84.08 per cent and Dibrugarh at 78.46 per cent. Cachar recorded the lowest pass percentage at 49.13 per cent.

Category-wise data shows that ST (P) candidates performed the best with a pass percentage of 73.65 per cent. This was followed by OBC candidates at 71.65 per cent and MOBC candidates at 70.94 per cent. Tea Tribe candidates recorded the lowest pass rate at 50.51 per cent.

In the merit list, Jyotirmay Das from Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Patacharkuchi in Bajali district secured the first rank. Akankha Bhuyan, Jia Farah Islam, and Surjit Akhtar were among the other top rank holders.
