Digital Economy Working Group Ministers meeting concludes in Bengaluru

Under India’s G20 Presidency, the ministerial meeting of the Digital Economy Working Group concluded in Bengaluru on 19 August 2023, Saturday. The meeting was addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a video message.The Prime Minister during his address said, “India’s digital public infrastructure provides viable, secure, and inclusive solutions to global challenges”. Noting the security threats and challenges posed by the global spread of the digital economy the Prime Minister said “It is important to build a consensus on the G20 High-Level Principles for a secure, reliable and resilient digital economy.”

The Digital Economy Working Group meeting in Bengaluru, attended by Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and representatives from Troika, focused on Digital Public Infrastructure, Security in the Digital Economy, and digital skilling. The main focus was on adopting the Ministerial Declaration.

 The meeting was held during the G20 Digital Innovation Alliance Summit, inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics and Information Technology Rajiv Chandrasekhar. India’s G20 presidency launched the G20 Digital Innovation Alliance (G20-DIA), recognizing and accelerating startups in six sectors: ed-tech, health-tech, agri-tech, fin-tech, secured digital infrastructure, and circular economy. Over 170 startups from 29 countries participated, with 30 winners honored.
