Digit Life Insurance eyes expansion in West Bengal, hosts business summit in Kolkata

Go Digit Life Insurance Limited, one of India’s fastest-growing digital life insurers, has outlined major expansion plans for West Bengal. At a business summit held in Kolkata, the company brought together top insurance partners and its leadership to discuss growth strategies and recognize high-performing agents. The event, led by Sundeep Bhardwaj, Chief Business Officer – Retail, showcased Digit Life’s rapid success, having crossed Rs 1,000 crore in revenue within just 16 months and disbursing over Rs 1 billion in claims. To strengthen its presence in West Bengal, the company has launched an office in Kolkata’s Park Street and is setting up another in Siliguri.

Speaking at the event, Bhardwaj stated, “Kolkata and West Bengal present immense potential for expansion. We have introduced several tech-enabled insurance products and, with the support of our strong partner network, aim to widen our reach in the coming months.” The summit also celebrated the contributions of elite partners, with over 100 top-performing agents in attendance. It served as a platform for networking and knowledge sharing, as the leadership team reaffirmed its commitment to partner support and market growth.

In Kolkata, Digit Life’s expansion is expected to boost employment opportunities and strengthen insurance penetration in the city. With rising financial awareness and a growing middle-class base, Kolkata has emerged as a key market for life insurance products. The company’s presence in Park Street, a prime commercial hub, positions it strategically to attract urban policyholders and expand its customer base. In H1FY25, Digit Life reported a staggering 488% year-on-year growth, writing Rs 531.52 crore in premiums compared to Rs 90.39 crore in H1FY24. As of September 30, 2024, it had over 1,500 insurance agents and intermediaries, with an average death claim settlement time of just 1.21 days in FY24.
