Digboi Police Station named best in Assam by Ministry of Home Affairs

Digboi Police Station received the Best Police Station Certificate of Assam from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, marking a proud moment for Tinsukia district. In keeping with the recent Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav festivities, the Assam Police Headquarters, Guwahati, issued an official notification (DGP-GEN011/2/2024-GEN-DGP-APHQ-Assam) making the statement. Digboi Police Station was founded in 1935 during the British rule and has distinguished itself by professionalism, crime prevention strategies, and dedication to community policing. It has gained the confidence of the populace over the years and helped maintain law and order in the oil town and its environs.

At a ceremonial event set for August 26, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Conference Hall of Assam Police Headquarters, Ulubari, Guwahati, the Director General of Police, Assam, will award the official certificate to Divya Jyoti Dutta, Officer-in-Charge of Digboi Police Station. The award emphasizes success in several important policing areas, such as citizen-centric policing, service delivery transparency, and community outreach. SP Tinsukia, IPS Gaurav Abhijit Dilip, commented on the accomplishment, saying that the award sets “a benchmark for other police stations in Assam to emulate” and highlights the commitment of the Digboi police force.
