In a major turning point for the hospitality sector in Northeast India, Marriott International has announced the signing of Courtyard by Marriott Dibrugarh. This marks a historic moment for the “Tea City of India,” as it prepares to welcome its first-ever international hotel chain.
Tulip Estates is collaborating on the project’s development, while NILE Hospitality will manage it. Strategically located at Chowkidinghee in the heart of the city, the hotel is designed to cater to the evolving needs of both corporate executives and leisure tourists visiting the region.
The upcoming property will feature 75 elegantly appointed rooms and suites. Aiming to set a new benchmark for luxury and convenience in Upper Assam, the hotel will offer a comprehensive suite of amenities, including a swimming pool, state-of-the-art banquet facilities for high-profile events, and a signature rooftop dining venue offering panoramic views of the city.
Industry experts view this development as a testament to Dibrugarh’s growing stature as a vital gateway to the Northeast. With the recent surge in infrastructure development, enhanced air connectivity, and its role as a commercial powerhouse for the tea and oil industries, the city has become a prime destination for global investors.
Vikram Singh Chauhan, Founder and CEO of NILE Hospitality, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, noting that Dibrugarh offers a distinctive combination of nature, community, and commerce. He emphasized that the hotel would enhance the quality of local accommodation and reinforce the city’s significance as a major agricultural and business hub in Eastern India.
Echoing this sentiment, Parth Lohia, Partner at Tulip Estates, highlighted that the timing of the project is ideal. He noted that as Dibrugarh rapidly emerges as a central economic hub, there is a clear demand for globally benchmarked hospitality services that meet international standards.
The entry of Marriott International is expected to act as a catalyst for further economic growth in Assam, creating local employment opportunities and encouraging a higher influx of international travelers to the region. As construction progresses, the Courtyard by Marriott Dibrugarh is poised to become a defining landmark in the city’s urban landscape.
