DGCA enhances Surveillance of Boeing 737 fleet in India after the crash in China

The China Eastern Airlines grounded all its Boeing 737 to 800 aircraft after the crash. It is one of the three major carriers in China. The 737 aircraft was on a flight from Kunming to Guangzhou. It crashed then in Wuzhou in the Tengxian County.

The Chairman of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Mr. Arun Kumar said that, “The Indian aviation watchdog has increased the monitoring of the Boeing 737 fleet operated by SpiceJet, Vistara, and Air India Express after the crash of a China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737 with 132 people on board.”

He also said that, “The safety of the Flight is a serious matter. We are closely monitoring the situation of the crash and we are also focusing on enhanced the surveillance of our 737 fleet.”

Earlier this Boeing 737 Max aircraft were involved in two accidents. 346 people were killed in that accident. As a result, in March 2019 the DGCA passed the ban on this aircraft in India. Jyotiraditya Scindia and the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi expressed their sorrow over the crash.
