Newly appointed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Arunachal Pradesh in-charge Devesh Kumar was given a warm welcome at the party’s state headquarters in Itanagar on October 6, in the presence of Chief Minister Pema Khandu and senior party leaders.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, state BJP president Kaling Moyong, several MLAs, party functionaries and workers attended the welcome programme.
The BJP appointed Kumar as its Arunachal Pradesh in-charge last month as part of an organisational reshuffle covering several states and Union Territories.
Welcoming Kumar to the state, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said his guidance would help the party strengthen its organisation at the grassroots level.
“It was a pleasure to receive his margdarshan and guidance. His words and direction will certainly help us move forward with greater clarity and commitment,” Khandu said.
Khandu also welcomed Kumar on behalf of BJP workers in Arunachal Pradesh and described the state as the “Land of the Rising Sun”.
Speaking to the media, Kumar said he considered his new responsibility an opportunity and a matter of pride.
“It is a pride moment to work for the saffron party in the beautiful state of Arunachal Pradesh,” Kumar said.
Kumar said he had spent more than two decades in journalism and would draw on his professional experience while working with the BJP organisation in Arunachal Pradesh.
He said his focus would include social causes and working with party workers to strengthen organisational activities across the state.
As the new state in-charge, Kumar will work closely with the Arunachal Pradesh BJP leadership on organisational programmes, grassroots outreach and coordination with party workers.
His appointment is part of the BJP’s wider organisational restructuring announced by the party in September, with new state in-charges assigned responsibilities in different parts of the country.
