Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain was admitted to hospital last night with high fever and complaints of breathing trouble, a day after he attended a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and others. He was tested this morning for coronavirus at Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital, where he’s being treated.
In a tweet this morning, the 55-year-old Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader wrote: “Due to high grade fever and a sudden drop of my oxygen levels last night I have been admitted to RGSSH. Will keep everyone updated (sic)”.
Replying to the post, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi: “You kept serving the public 24*7 without taking care of yourself. Please take care of your health and get well soon.”
AAP MLA Raghav Chadha said this morning: “I spoke to him (Satyendar Jain) just a few minutes ago and his respiratory rate is stable.”

On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal met to discuss the national capital’s response to coronavirus. Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minster Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, among other senior ministers and officials, were also present at the meeting.
With over 42,000 COVID-19 cases, Delhi has the third-highest number of infections in India after Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
