Bengal reported 723 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday, 774 recoveries, and 11 deaths, resulting in a total of active cases to 7,967.
There has been a net increase of 293 active cases, from 7,674, in the last 43 days, when Bengal snapped out of a 97-day decline in active cases or a number of Covid patients receiving treatment.
New Covid-19 instances disclosed on Saturday, according to a minister, identified people who were infected between October 29 and November 2.
On Sunday, the city of Calcutta recorded 205 new Covid-19 infections and two deaths. 146 new cases and four deaths were reported in the North 24-Parganas area.
These were the only two districts in the state’s 23 with a three-digit number of new cases discovered in a single day. A single-digit figure was reported in seven districts.
On Sunday, 524 new infections were detected in Calcutta, North and South 24-Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, and Nadia districts, accounted for 72.48 percent of all new infections. There were no deaths in seventeen districts.
Bengal’s daily positive confirmation rate, which was nearly 33 per cent during the peak of the second wave, was 2.4 per cent on Sunday.
The state’s recovery rate is 98.3 per cent, while that of the nation is 98.24 per cent.
Bengal now has over 15.98 lakh Covid-19 cases, since the first was logged in March last year. The total includes over 15.71 lakh recoveries and 19,226 deaths.
