Cop on Poll Duty Dies of Cardiac Arrest in Assam’s Nagaon District

In a tragic incident, a police personnel died after he suffered a heart attack while on election duty in Nagaon district of Assam on the night of April 7-8.
The deceased has been identified as head constable Chandan Rai.
Police said that he was deployed with his company (number E/186) at Nagaon for Assembly Election duty when he complained of abdominal pain.
He was rushed to the public health centre at Dhing, and subsequently referred to Nagaon Medical College and Hospital following deterioration in his condition.
“He passed away at Nagaon Medical College while undergoing treatment. The attending doctor declared the cause of death as sudden cardiac arrest. Rai hailed from Morigaon dstrict and his family has been informed about his demise,” a police officer said.
