The court suspended the contractors repairing the ill-fated bridge at Morbi in Gujarat.
The court said the contractors were not competent to do such work.
According to reports, while replacing the floor of the bridge, its cable was not replaced and it could not take the weight of the replaced flooring, the prosecution told the magistrate’s court, citing a forensic report.
135 people lost their lives when the bridge collapsed on Sunday evening. Chief Judicial Magistrate MJ Khan remanded the four accused, two managers of Oreva Group and two sub-contractors of the bridge repair, to police custody till Saturday.
Further investigations are underway and more arrests are likely.
