Doctors at Peerless Hospital Guwahati successfully conducted a revision joint replacement surgery on a 43-year-old woman suffering from implant failure after previous bilateral total hip arthroplasty. The patient experienced debilitating discomfort and mobility issues due to complications from the earlier procedure. Following a clinical evaluation, revision surgery was deemed necessary to correct the implant failure and restore her functional stability.
The operation was performed by orthopedic specialist Dr. Rituraj Neog under the ESIC scheme and proceeded without complications. Post-surgery, the patient exhibited significant improvement, regaining stability within three days, with expectations to gradually resume daily activities over the coming weeks through continued rehabilitation and follow-up care.
Dr. Neog noted the complexity of revision joint replacement surgeries compared to primary procedures and emphasized the importance of meticulous planning and post-operative care for successful outcomes. Timely intervention in implant failure cases is critical for preventing further complications and promoting long-term recovery.
Furthermore, Dr. Gautam Kumar Das, CEO of Peerless Hospital Guwahati, highlighted the importance of comprehensive patient care extending beyond surgery, which includes pain management and rehabilitation to ensure a safe recovery and improved quality of life. He mentioned the hospital’s geriatric care services, tailored to address elderly patients’ specific health needs, focusing on chronic disease management, mobility, cognitive health, and rehabilitation. This holistic approach aims to foster independence and enhance the overall quality of life for senior citizens while promoting dignity and long-term health management.
