Speaking on the occasion of the state’s second Legislative Assembly building’s foundation being laid in Dibrugarh, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma described the day as extremely important for both Dibrugarh and the broader Upper Assam region. According to him, the people of Upper Assam have given the current government their full support. Additionally, he stated that the government’s goal is to advance Upper Assam in terms of politics, economy, society, and culture.
The Chief Minister stated that the Bogibeel Bridge and the Dhola-Sadiya Bridge are gifts from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Upper Assam. He added that the Prime Minister has just laid the foundation stone for an ammonia-urea project in Namrup that would cost Rs. 10,600 crore and have an annual production capacity of 12.7 lakh metric tons. He said that no one had previously anticipated building a second Legislative Assembly facility outside of Guwahati and stated that the state is proud of Union Home Minister Amit Shah for laying the foundation stones for the second Assembly complex.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the second phase of Khanikar Stadium, located near the Assembly complex, has begun and will increase its capacity to 35,000, compared to Sarusajai Stadium’s 25,000. He also highlighted a wetland restoration project funded by the Union Home Ministry to reduce flood risks in Assam by rejuvenating wetlands along the Brahmaputra. Addressing Assam’s development, Dr. Sarma said the state has seen major improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, and stability under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He noted the expansion of medical colleges across Upper Assam and announced that land patta application forms for tea garden workers will be distributed from 10 February.
