CM Himanta Biswa Sarma at the MMUA event in Bajali: Women must advance in business

Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, reiterated the State Government’s commitment to women’s economic development, stating that any woman may become self-sufficient and that women must advance in business. He was speaking to a sizable crowd while handing out seed capital checks for the Bajali Legislative Assembly Constituency’s flagship Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA). Nearly 28,000 women recipients received Rs 10,000 seed capital checks from the Chief Minister during the program, which was a major step toward encouraging women-led entrepreneurship at the local level.

The program seeks to support women in launching small enterprises, bolstering self-help organizations, and generating chances for sustainable existence. The Chief Minister highlighted the program’s scope by stating that women can pursue entrepreneurial endeavors including traditional gamosa weaving, the manufacturing of mustard oil, dairy and milk-based businesses, agriculture-related firms, and other local industries. He promised that in order to lessen reliance on supplies from outside the area, the State Government will give priority to purchasing locally made goods from women’s self-help organizations for government offices and departments.

The Chief Minister further disclosed that funding under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan would be disbursed in stages, with an initial payment of Rs 10,000, then Rs 25,000, and finally Rs 50,000, contingent on the enterprises’ appropriate use and advancement. Additionally, he pointed out that women may use the money to support or grow their families or their husbands’ companies, increasing the total revenue of the household. Sarma asked the recipients to make prudent investments with the money in order to guarantee long-term financial stability. In order to guarantee steady growth and revenue generation, he continued, the government developed a more comprehensive plan to link female entrepreneurs with markets and institutional buyers.
