Cleartrip Unpacked 2025: Kolkata travellers embrace longer stays, mobile bookings and value travel

Cleartrip’s year-end report Cleartrip Unpacked 2025 highlights notable shifts in travel behaviour among users from Kolkata, reflecting wider national trends centred on affordability, flexibility, and digital-first planning. One of the key insights from the city was a 29-day continuous hotel stay booked by a Kolkata traveller, indicating growing interest in longer and more flexible travel experiences.

Across the platform, budget and mid-range hotels accounted for the majority of bookings, a trend also reflected among Kolkata users who increasingly prioritised value-driven travel. Mobile usage remained strong, with over 65% of bookings made through smartphones, supported by the widespread adoption of UPI and card-based payments.

The report also pointed to a sharp rise in Gen Z travellers across India, with international destinations such as Dubai, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur gaining popularity. Emerging travel formats such as workations, calmcations and digital detox trips shaped booking patterns in 2025. Cleartrip noted that a significant number of travellers booked trips at the last minute, while others planned far in advance, underlining diverse planning preferences. The findings suggest that Kolkata travellers are becoming more confident with digital platforms, balancing affordability with comfort while exploring new travel styles.
