Cleartrip partners with IRCTC to launch train bookings on platform

Online travel platform Cleartrip, a part of Flipkart, has entered the train ticket booking segment through a partnership with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the official ticketing arm of Indian Railways. With the launch, Cleartrip has expanded its travel services portfolio to include flights, hotels, trains, buses and holiday packages, strengthening its position as a multi-modal travel platform. The company said users will now be able to search, book and manage train journeys directly through the app.

The platform will offer access to train bookings across India, including General and Tatkal quotas as per Ministry of Railways guidelines. Users will also get features such as real-time seat availability, fare insights, PNR status tracking, berth preferences and secure digital payment options. Manjari Singhal, Chief Growth and Business Officer at Cleartrip, said train travel remains a vital part of India’s mobility network and the partnership with IRCTC will help simplify bookings for millions of travellers. Gaurav Patwari, Chief Business Officer, Air, Cleartrip, said the company aims to deliver a faster and more personalised booking experience for rail passengers.

In Kolkata, the addition of train bookings on digital travel platforms could see strong demand from eastern India, where rail travel remains one of the most preferred and affordable modes of transportation. Industry observers believe the move may benefit passengers travelling on busy routes connecting Kolkata with northeastern and northern states.
