Clarion Hotel De Renees opens in Gangtok, boost Sikkim’s pemium hspitality scene

The Suba Group of Hotels has marked a major milestone in its Northeast India expansion with the grand opening of Clarion Hotel De Renees in Gangtok. Inaugurated by Sikkim’s Tourism Minister Tshering Thendup Bhutia, the hotel is situated in Lower Sichey, offering easy access to the city’s vibrant core.

Clarion Hotel De Renees boasts 38 upscale rooms and a host of modern amenities, including a rooftop restaurant with Himalayan views, an international spa, gymnasium, and indoor pool. Dining options like Cinnamon and Tipsy Tiger, along with extensive banqueting and meeting spaces, make it ideal for both leisure and business travellers. Chairman Mansur Mehta said the launch “reflects our continued commitment to delivering premium hospitality in prime locations,” while CEO Mubeen Mehta highlighted the importance of their partnership with global chain Choice Hotels International.

In the Gangtok market, the opening is seen as a strong signal of the region’s rising appeal among luxury travellers. The hotel’s sustainability-driven design, combined with global hospitality standards, is expected to attract a mix of domestic and international tourists, further elevating Gangtok’s reputation as a premium travel destination.
