Cipla Health hails FSSAI’s new ORS labelling rule, reinforces ProlyteORS as the #AsliORS

Cipla Health Limited has welcomed the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India’s (FSSAI) recent directive mandating the removal of the term “ORS” from all food and beverage labels and trademarks unless they meet the medically approved Oral Rehydration Solution formulation defined by the World Health Organisation (WHO). The regulation is aimed at ensuring transparency and protecting consumer trust by preventing misleading product labelling. Cipla Health’s flagship brand, ProlyteORS, which already adheres to WHO standards, reaffirmed its position as the #AsliORS—a scientifically backed and clinically approved oral rehydration solution that delivers the precise balance of electrolytes, glucose, and sodium required for effective hydration.

Commenting on the move, Mr. Shivam Puri, MD & CEO of Cipla Health Limited, said, “The FSSAI directive is a significant step toward consumer protection and public health. At Cipla Health, ProlyteORS represents integrity, quality, and trust—the foundation of our #AsliORS commitment.”

In Kolkata, the ruling is expected to positively influence consumer buying behavior, steering demand toward authentic, WHO-compliant ORS products. Pharmacists and distributors anticipate higher trust in certified brands like ProlyteORS, especially during peak summer months when dehydration risks surge.
