Cipla Health Limited has expanded its oral rehydration portfolio with the launch of a new Masala Guava flavour under its Prolyte ORS brand. The product is based on the World Health Organization-recommended Oral Rehydration Salt (ORS) formulation and aims to combine clinical effectiveness with a taste suited to Indian preferences. The company said the new variant is designed to make hydration both effective and enjoyable, blending science-backed relief with a flavour familiar to Indian consumers. With this addition, the Prolyte ORS portfolio now offers eleven flavours, reflecting growing demand for hydration solutions that balance efficacy with taste.
Commenting on the launch, CEO and MD Shivam Puri said hydration remains critical in India due to climatic conditions and active lifestyles that increase dehydration risks. He added that the Masala Guava variant is expected to encourage regular consumption, promoting hydration as a daily habit rather than a reactive measure. The company stated that the new flavour has undergone extensive research and multiple rounds of testing to meet quality, safety and efficacy benchmarks while aligning with consumer taste preferences.
In Medinipur, rising temperatures and increased awareness around preventive healthcare are driving demand for convenient hydration solutions. Retailers indicate that flavoured ORS products are gaining traction, particularly among younger consumers, and the introduction of a regionally appealing flavour like Masala Guava is expected to boost uptake in the local market.
