The Assam Agribusiness Growth Lab (AAGL) Program, funded by the World Bank, has achieved remarkable success, with 25 startups successfully accelerated in its first-year cohort. The program, launched under the Assam Agri-business and Rural Transformation Project (APART) in collaboration with ICCSPL, aims to graduate over 100 startups within the next two years.
The AAGL Program hosted “Assam Agri Startup Connect” on 9th June 2023 in Delhi, which served as a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs from Assam to showcase their businesses and present their ideas to a distinguished panel of evaluators. The primary objectives were to secure investments, establish valuable partnerships, and gain recognition within the industry.
The first cohort of 25 startups saw a 20% increase in turnover and INR 8.26 crore in finance, while the second cohort saw a surge in women-led startups, rising from 32% to 45%. The program has expanded its reach to 12 districts, and 9 enterprises from Cohort 2.0 will attend the Assam Agri Startup Connect event in Delhi. Chintan Antani, Vice President CIIE.CO. said, ” By offering mentorship, access to funding, and industry collaborations, we are empowering startups to overcome barriers and accelerate their growth trajectory.”
