CID discovers a “definite angle” in the death case of Zubeen Garg following the Viscera report: CM Himanta

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday revealed that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has found a “definite angle” in the mysterious death of popular singer Zubeen Garg, following the receipt of his viscera report from the Central Forensic Laboratory (CFL) in New Delhi. Speaking during a Facebook Live session, Sarma said the laboratory’s findings have provided crucial leads that could help investigators piece together the final moments of the late artist’s life. “The Central Forensic Laboratory in Delhi has given us the viscera report. I am happy to say that now the CID has got a definite angle into the case. Within a very few days, the entire chronology of the Zubeen Garg death case will be presented before the court,” the Chief Minister said.

Sarma also disclosed that four more Assamese nationals, who were reportedly present in Singapore at the time of Garg’s death, are scheduled to arrive in Guwahati on Monday to record their statements before the CID. “These witnesses could play an important role in establishing what exactly happened,” he added. Zubeen Garg, one of Assam’s most celebrated and influential musicians, passed away on September 19 in Singapore. He was reportedly swimming at the time of the incident and had travelled to the city-state to take part in the 4th edition of the North East India Festival.

Following his demise, a post-mortem examination was conducted at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), and his viscera samples were sent to the CFL in Delhi for detailed chemical analysis. The results, which reached the CID recently, are now believed to have opened new directions in the ongoing probe.
