Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya expressed deep grief, highlighting Singh’s legacy as a statesman who reshaped India’s economic landscape. “Dr. Singh’s vision elevated India’s global economic stature. His gentleness and unwavering commitment to the nation will be remembered forever. May his soul rest in peace,” Acharya stated. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who shared a long association with Singh during his tenure in the Congress, offered a poignant tribute. In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Sarma described Singh as a leader who epitomized humility and intellectual brilliance.
“Dr. Singh never allowed the trappings of power to overshadow his simplicity. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also praised Singh’s leadership during challenging times. “Dr. Singh’s scholarship and dedication to public service have left an indelible mark on India’s progress. His passing is an irreparable loss to the nation,” Sonowal remarked. The Assam Congress hailed Singh as a visionary leader and a pioneer in economic reforms.
