CGC Jhanjeri transitions into CGC University, Mohali with industry-integrated vision

Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Jhanjeri has officially transitioned into CGC University, Mohali, marking a significant milestone in its 25-year legacy. The announcement was made at a high-profile press conference at JW Marriott, Chandigarh, attended by academic leaders and corporate representatives from IBM, KPMG, EY, Cognitel, Microsoft, Autodesk, Meta, and Imarticus Learning.

Founder Chancellor S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal described the move as his “commitment to society,” stressing that quality education must be accessible to all. Managing Director Arsh Dhaliwal highlighted his vision of making CGC University India’s first “Industry-Integrated Learning Capital”, bridging academia and employability with futuristic, tech-enabled curricula. The university also announced internships with stipends between ₹75,000 and ₹1,00,000, enabling students to gain financial independence while studying.

Executive Director Dr. Sushil Prashar unveiled the innovative 50:50 learning model, where industry leaders and faculty share equal responsibility in shaping student outcomes. The university also pledged to support MSMEs, startups, and gig professionals, aligning with NEP 2020 and government initiatives like Skill India and Digital India. In Kolkata, education experts note that the region’s growing demand for digital skills and industry-ready graduates positions CGC University as an attractive destination for Bengal’s youth. With Kolkata emerging as an IT and startup hub, industry-integrated learning models are seen as vital in preparing students for competitive job markets across India and abroad.
