As Diwali lights up homes across India, wellness experts are urging families to balance festive indulgence with nutritious choices. Almonds, naturally rich in protein, fibre, and heart-healthy fats, are being recommended as a wholesome addition to festive treats. With 15 essential nutrients including calcium, magnesium, zinc, and vitamin E, almonds are credited with supporting heart health, blood sugar regulation, and weight management.
Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan emphasized mindful celebrations, saying, “Diwali is a time for togetherness, and as a mother, I want my daughter to enjoy festivities while learning healthier choices. Almonds keep us fuller for longer, helping reduce consumption of less healthy treats.” Ayurveda expert Dr. Madhumitha Krishna highlighted almonds’ traditional wellness benefits, noting their ability to balance doshas and promote vitality. Nutritionists Ritika Samaddar and Sheela Krishnaswamy also recommended incorporating almonds into festive meals, snacks, and gift options to maintain nutritional equilibrium.
The demand for premium California Almonds has surged this Diwali, with local stores and online platforms reporting increased sales as consumers seek nutritious alternatives to conventional sweets. Retailers note that gifting almonds is becoming a popular trend, reflecting a shift towards health-conscious celebrations. The Almond Board of California, representing over 7,600 growers and processors, continues to promote almonds globally for their nutritional value and versatility, encouraging families to celebrate a season of light and health.
