Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL), Asia’s first listed depository and custodian of over 16.7 croredemat accounts, has launched its inaugural Reimagine Ideathon, aimed at encouraging students to reimagine investor education and engagement in India. The initiative forms part of the 3rd Edition of CDSL’s Annual Reimagine Symposium.
The Ideathon seeks innovative solutions to make market participation more responsible, inclusive, and accessible, leveraging technology, gamification, behavioral nudges, and community-building. Participants are expected to develop ideas grounded in three core principles: Empowerment, Inclusion, and Trust. CDSL manages over 21 crore investor accounts and sees significant potential to deepen market participation while overcoming barriers that limit access to the securities market.
“Reimagine Ideathon is a celebration of responsible innovation,” said NehalVora, MD & CEO, CDSL. “An educated investor is a protected investor; empowered to make informed decisions that reflect their aspirations. This Ideathon aligns with our vision of building an Atmanirbhar investor community.” The Ideathon offers a total prize pool of ₹11.5 lakh, including ₹5 lakh for the winning idea. Registrations, opening November 19, allow teams of up to four students with one mentor from the same institute. Analysts note that with Assam’s rising investor awareness, platforms like the Ideathon could play a pivotal role in encouraging responsible participation in the capital markets in the northeast region.
