The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday raided the premises of senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar in connection with the alleged corruption case against him.
Sources indicated that the CBI raided 14 premises of state Congress chief DK Shivakumar and his brother and MP DK Suresh, including the former’s residence at Doddalahalli, Kanakapura and Sadashiva Nagar, in Bengaluru. The CBI has recovered a total of Rs 50 lakh after the raids, according to news agency PTI.
It may be noted that the CBI has registered a case against DK Shivakumar and others on allegations of acquisition of disproportionate assets. Searches were also conducted at multiple locations — nine in Karnataka, four in Delhi and one in Mumbai.
Earlier, the state government had given permission to CBI to probe the corruption charges against the leader.
Soon after the development, senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala slammed the Karnataka government and called the CBI a “puppet” of the BJP government in the state under BS Yediyurappa.
